What is the Fun Meet?
The Fun Meet is a practice meet for Oakwood Dolphins 10 and under swimmers only. This is a great way for new swimmers to experience a meet without the pressure of competition against another team, and it is a refresher for the returning swimmers. The older swimmers (11 and up) help to run the meet. It is a lot of fun for everyone! We encourage all swimmers to attend.
What can we expect at our first swim meet?
We will always send out detailed information prior to each meet, including warm-up and meet start times. Please remember to bring a towel, swim caps, goggles, dry clothes, snacks and drinks, money for the concession, a sharpie (to write events on your swimmer's arm), paper and pen to write down your swimmer's events, foldable chairs and/or blankets, activities for swimmers to do in between events (card games, books, etc.), sunscreen, and bug spray.
Swimmers will need to arrive early to check in and prepare for warm ups. Meets will typically begin at 5:30 or 6 PM, and have a first and a second half, with a short break in between the halves.
Is there a required team suit?
There is no required team suit, though our team colors are navy and gold, so you may wish to purchase a suit with those colors. We do suggest shopping at our team store on the swimoutlet.com website, as every purchase generates cash back to support our team.
Where do I shop for swim suits and gear?
We recommend shopping at our affiliate site for great pricing and the added bonus is that every purchase helps out our team!
Does a swimmer need a qualifying time to go to the championship meet?
No, a swimmer does not need a qualifying time to go to the championship meet. The only requirement is that the swimmer participate in two regular season meets. Championships are a lot of fun and for every swimmer of every skill level.
